THE UNWAVERING SPIRIT OF VOLUNTEERING

You are not alone! This powerful blog post is inspired by a family of VSO/ICS cycle 7 volunteers from two continents; Africa(Uganda), and Europe (United kingdom). As the world awaits for calm and normalcy to return after so many weeks in lockdown, our unwavering volunteering spirit is yearning to help those who have been affected by this crisis, as well as help ourselves get through it by keeping busy. In simple words, it is a difference between appearance and reality. Restrictions on movement mean that almost everyone stays home most times, which we are not used to.Most of us are tired of staying home! It's so monotonous and boring to stay home.However, due to the heavy rains that come with strong winds,and the increased water levels of Lake Victoria at the shores, hundreds of people are now homeless, with some taking refuge with nearby relatives.Houses and property have been destroyed, and the threat of hunger and malaria a reality for them.They yearn for homes like ours that are tired of staying in! MAINTAINING A GOOD MENTAL HEALTH DURING THIS COVID-19 PANDEMIC

According to the  U.K. Surgeon Journal (1999) , Mental Health  is the successful performance of the mental function resulting in productive activities, fulfilling relations with other people, and providing the ability to adapt to change and cope with adversity . The World Health Organization states that the well being  of an individual is encompassed in the realization of their abilities, copying with normal stresses of life, productive work, and contribution to their community. Mental Health   , is a state of someone who is functioning at a satisfactory level of emotional and behavioral adjustment. On the other hand, Mental Illness are conditions that affect a person's mood, thinking and behavior  that doesn't only affect them, but all those around them. NOTE: People who have no mental illness can also have poor mental health. With the novel COVID-19 terrorizing most nations in the world, the best health practices have been put inplace.Governments have put most na
